Weather usually happens to us, whether we want it to or not, but on Saturday, local kids will have a chance to create their own weather with the help of Doppler on Wheels.
The University of Illinois project will be available from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Homewood village hall parking lot, 2024 Chestnut Road, to offer an opportunity to learn about weather tacking and the equipment used to track the weather with the Flexible Array of Radars and Mesonets (FARM) Facility.
Project staff will also teach about mobile radar, weather balloons and will even help kids create a tornado in a bottle.
