A little bit of the past remains in the present, thanks to the efforts of the Homewood Historical Society. The Dorband-Howe home at 2035 W. 183rd St. is the society’s headquarters, archive and museum, and on Sunday the home was open to anyone interested in taking a peek at the past.
The open house was an opportunity to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the home. Volunteer Rose Olshar, who served as greeter during the open house, said a number of visitors Sunday noted that although they have lived in Homewood for years, the open house was their first time inside the historic home.
