Lise Gilly’s Grupo Cha Cha, billed as “The Lovely Ladies of Latin Jazz,” will be next up in the TrueMuse jazz concert series with a show Thursday at Ravisloe Country Club in Homewood.
The group is “guaranteed to stir your emotions, get your toes tapping and on your feet,” according to a news release from Ravisloe. “Grupo Cha Cha will take you on a cultural journey through the rich and often unsung history of female Latin composers”
The show will feature compositions from the classic Cuban love songs of Olga de Blanck and La Lupe and tangos by Eloisa de Silva to the contemporary energetic salsa/son montunos sounds of Rebecca Mauleon. Also in the mix will be sambas from Eliana Elias and former New York Philharmonic composer in residence Tania Leon.
The show will also include work from Grupo Cha Cha composers Janet Cramer, Lise Gilly and Diana Mosquera, whose recent compositions have been getting FM radio airplay from Boston to San Francisco and international markets in Canada, Colombia and France.
The show will begin at 7:30 p.m., but the Bunker Grill will be open for meals and cocktails at 6 p.m. Tickets are $18 online in advance and $20 at the door.
Reservations suggested but walk-ins are welcome. Call 708-798-5600 for more information.
The TrueMuse concert series began in November and will continue through the summer months with regular jazz concerts at Ravisloe.
