An 83-year-old Homewood man died early Wednesday, Oct. 29, from head injuries suffered in a traffic accident Tuesday evening, Oct. 28.
Joseph E. Coghlan was pronounced dead at 5:13 a.m. Wednesday, according to a Cook County Medical Examiners Office spokeman.
Coghlan was walking across Gottschalk Street shortly before 8:30 p.m. Tuesday when he was struck by a 2013 Kia driven by Fred Gold, 95, of Homewood, according to Homewood police.
Gold told police Coghlan walked into the side of his car, according to the police report released Tuesday, Nov. 4.
Neither Gold nor a passenger in his car, Esther Gold, were injured.
