Park district’s Lions Club Pool, Splash Pad set to open

In about two weeks, the Lions Club Pool will open for the season on Saturday, May 30.

Staffers from Aqua Pure Enterprises were at the pool on Wednesday, May 13, to replace four pool grates, and Homewood-Flossmoor Park District staff members have been making last-minute improvements to the pool area.

The pool season runs May 30 through Aug. 9.

The pool opens for lap swimmers from 9 to 11 a.m. and 6:45 to 7:45 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, and 9 to 10:45 a.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The fee is $4 daily, but it is free to those with a pool pass.

Pool hours are 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Fridays, Saturday and Sundays. Children under 12 must be accompanied by someone 16 years or older. The pool pass is on sale for $60 for residents and $85 for nonresidents. The pool daily rate is $10 for residents and $15 for nonresidents.

The Splash Pad at Millennium Park is geared toward kids who are 54-inches tall or under, and for kids ages 1 through 10 with special accommodations. The Splash Pad opens when the temperature is at least 70-degrees. Opening day is Saturday, May 23, and the last day is Sunday, Aug. 9. There is no charge for residents who can present an ID showing residency. Nonresidents pay a $5 fee.

The Splash Pad is closed on Mondays but can be rented for parties on that day. The regular hours are Tuesdays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. There are no rentals those days. The Saturday and Sunday hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Rentals can be booked from 9 to 11 a.m. and from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

Several days are set aside for teen and adult sensory-friendly experiences from 10 a.m. to noon on Mondays June 22, July 20 and Aug. 2.
