The Homewood Village Board approved a liquor license request from Antoine Washington at its March 24 meeting. Washington purchased Cilantro Cocina Mexicana at 18755 Dixie Highway, and plans to open a 3B Burger-Bird-Brews House there by May.
Washington purchased the property in February. 3B Burger-Bird-Brews House is a restaurant that specializes in burgers, chicken and beer. He currently owns 20 other restaurants across the southwest suburbs, he said.
“This is a new brand that we just created. The plan is to franchise this brand,” Washington said, adding, “we have another location going up now that’s going to be in Posen, Ill.”
“I’m excited to see that restaurant space get revived and come back to life,” Trustee Lauren Roman said.
The class 5 liquor license will allow Washington to sell alcohol for on-premise consumption only with no bar. No more than 25% of sales in a year can be from alcohol, Homewood Director of Finance Amy Zukowski said.
Now that the request has been approved, Washington will need to complete the application process. Upon completion, staff will prepare an ordinance to increase Class 5 the liquor licenses for 3B Burger-Bird-Brews House at a future meeting, Zukowski said.
