Trash or Treasure? Homewood Historical Society will hold its general meeting at 6 p.m. in the Homewood Public Library, 17917 Dixie Highway, followed by a program by Rex Newell of Rex’s Antiques, who will evaluate free one item for each attendee (excluding Native American or Oriental art).
Plan Ahead. The Metra Electric Line will be partially shut down Dec. 14-15, due to extensive construction associated with the South Shore Line’s expansion plans, work that will also benefit Metra Electric riders. Train service will terminate and originate from the 18th Street Station, with buses replacing trains between Millennium and 18th, and the line will use a Sunday schedule both Saturday and Sunday.
