Ruth Page’s Nutcracker. Tchaikovsky’s holiday favorite, “The Nutcracker,” will be performed from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at the Governors State University Center for Performing Arts, 1 University Parkway, University Park. “This beloved holiday family classic is the only production that recreates the original version’s full-length staging. International guest artists will perform alongside the Ruth Page Civic Ballet elite dancers.” Tickets available here.
Jazz Night. Bistro on Sterling, 1040 Sterling Ave. in Flossmoor, will host live jazz music starting at 7 p.m.

Butterball Burner 5K. The H-F Park District’s 20th annual Thanksgiving 5K run will start at 8 a.m. at the H-F Racquet & Fitness Club, 2920 W. 183rd St. in Homewood. “Burn some extra calories before your big Thanksgiving meal and enjoy a fun-filled run/walk.” All ages and abilities welcome. Early bird registration deadline for the $30 fee is Nov. 19. After that, registration will be $35. Click here to register.
Community Thanksgiving Gathering. All Nations Community Church, 18620 Kedzie Ave., will host the 52nd annual H-F Community Thanksgiving Gathering at 7 p.m., featuring the H-F High School Viking Choir and diverse voices from the community. The event will help raise money for Respond Now. This year’s theme is centered around Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s vision of a society built on inclusion, where love and understanding are the guiding forces. All are welcome regardless of beliefs or practices.
