Senior Social Hour. Homewood Public Library, 17917 Dixie Highway, will host a social gathering for adults and seniors from 2 to 3 p.m. “Join us for an hour of light refreshments and pleasant conversation. Registration is not required.”

Foundation 153 Winter Market. Foundation 153, which supports District 153 teachers and students, will hold a market from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 18205 Aberdeen St. in Homewood. Entry for shoppers is free. Crafters, makers, businesses and other vendors will be there.
Izaak Walton Annual Turkey Raffle, Bake Sale and Auction Party. The Izaak Walton Preserve’s annual fundraiser will start at 7 p.m. on Nov. 9. Doors at Senior Hall, 1100 Ridge Road, open at 6:15 p.m. Raffle tickets will cost $5 or $25 for a booklet of six tickets. Grand prizes will range from $150 to $500.
Homers and Hot Chocolate Hitting Derby Fundraiser. The Flossmoor Firebirds travel baseball team, which is affiliated with Flossmoor Baseball and Softball, will hold a hitting derby at noon at Bronco Field, 1000 Brassie Ave. Register here to participate.
DIY Tie-Dye Teddy Bear Workshop for Adults. Flossmoor Public Library, 1000 Sterling Ave., will host an opportunity for adults to tie-dye a teddy bear from 11 a.m. to noon. “Join us to create a groovy no-mess tie dye teddy bear! Before painting you will bring your bear to life by hand stuffing it with fluff. We will then give Teddy bursts of color using a unique bottled paint system which when applied, seeps and flows, creating a tie-dye effect without the mess.” Registration is required.
H. H. Holmes & New Links to Chicago & the White City. The South Suburban Genealogical & Historical Society will meet at 10 a.m. in the Martin Kauchak Public Safety Center, 3000 W. 170th Place, Hazel Crest. The presenter will be Ray Johnson, who will present “H. H. Holmes & New Links to Chicago & the White City. “Ever since Erik Larson’s book ‘Devil in The White City,’ the murderous swindler H.H. Holmes has been linked to the Chicago World’s Fair of 1893. Ray Johnson, ‘The History Cop,’ discusses new links between Holmes and Thomas B. Bryan and Daniel H. HBA Fashion Show. The Homewood Business Association will sponsor a fashion show in the lobby of La Banque Hotel, 2034 Ridge Road, from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased here. Continental breakfast and two drinks included. “Donate a gently worn coat benefitting Open Access and be entered to win a Shop Homewood Gift Basket.”
