Trick or treaters defy wind

On Halloween 2023, it snowed, briefly but pretty hard, on kids and parents participating in the Village of Homewood’s trick or treat event. This year, a blustery wind gusting to 25 miles per hour greeted participants who visited four village locations: village hall, the police and fire departments and the Homewood Science Center.

In neither case did the weather slow down the festivities.

In 2023, Events Manager Marla Youngblood and Communications & Engagement Specialist Antonia Steinmiller, who worked the village hall station, ran out of candy well before the first hour.

This year, they increased their candy supply and didn’t run out, but trick or treaters reaped all but 50 of the 2,000 candy bars they started with.
