Fall Tree Planting in Flossmoor. Volunteers are invited to help with the village’s annual fall tree planting project from 8 to 11 a.m. Meet up at Flossmoor Village Hall, 2800 Flossmoor Road. Volunteers should bring a shovel, work gloves, closed-toe shoes and dress for the weather. Anyone under age 16 must be accompanied by a volunteering adult, and all volunteers must be prepared to get to other locations in town, according to village officials. Click here to register. Spooky Storytime. The Flossmoor Public Library, 1000 Sterling Ave., will host from 2 to 4 p.m. stories that “begin with the fun and spooky, to thrilling scary stories to tell in the dark, and up through the macabre tales of Edgar Allen Poe.” Light refreshments will be provided. Costumes are welcome. Children under 9 years old must have an adult caregiver stay with them at the program. Register here.

Flossmoor Fundraiser Double Header. Anyone who dines at Dunning’s Market, 1050 Sterling Ave., or shops at the Shops on Sterling, 1056 Sterling Ave., on Friday, Oct. 18, and Saturday, Oct. 19, will be contributing to two local organizations, Flossmoor Baseball and Softball and the Chicago Southland Chamber of Commerce Foundation. A percentage of all sales in both locations will go to the organizations.

Prairie State College Open House. PSC will hold an open house from 10 a.m. to noon on the main campus, 202 Halsted St. in Chicago Heights. This free event is an opportunity for prospective students and their families to explore the campus, meet faculty and staff, and learn about all the programs the college has to offer.

Twilight Drag Bingo. H-F Park District will host a bingo event that sparkles from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Irwin Center, 18120 Highland Ave. in Homewood. Sasha Love will host and perform. For ages 21 and up. Cost is $25 for district residents, $30 for non-residents. Click here to register.

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. The Governors State University Center for Performing Arts will present “Sweeney Todd” at 7:30 p.m.
