Kevin J. Rab, age 66, of South Chicago Heights, IL, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2024. Beloved son of the late Norman and Esther Stogentin-Rab. Loving Brother of Carolyn (late Gene) Gann, Linda (Tony) Capretti, Kirstie (Frank Pachura) Angelotti, Stephen (Jill) Rab, and Phillip (Marla) Rab. Fond uncle of Lisa Gann-Campbell (Doug), and many nieces and nephews; and a great-uncle to many.
Kevin was a lifelong resident of South Chicago Heights. He graduated from Bloom High School and earned his pharmacological degree from Ferris State College in Michigan.
He was a loyal White Sox and Blackhawks fan and an avid golfer. Kevin was an enthusiastic birdwatcher and traveled far and wide seeking out new birds.
He is best known for being a generous and funny man with a hearty laugh. Kevin enjoyed good music, good food and spending time with family and friends. He contributed to numerous charities throughout his lifetime including the World Wildlife Fund, the National Audubon Society, the Thorn Creek Nature Center and its Audubon Society, and supported many health and research charities searching for medical cures.
Kevin was passionate about protecting our planet and preventing global warming. He worked the majority of his career as a pharmacist for Kmart corporation and retired from there not long ago.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation to be held Saturday, May 11, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Smits – Steger Memorial Chapel, 3045 Chicago Rd., Steger, IL. Funeral Service to be held Monday, May 13, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Smits – Steger Memorial Chapel. Interment to follow.
