Marjorie N. Krause | July 25, 1937 – June 17, 2026

Marjorie N. Krause, age 88, of Willoughby, Ohio, passed away on June 17, 2026. A dedicated scientist, educator, and lifelong volunteer, Marjorie built a distinguished career in biochemistry and medical technology while remaining deeply involved in the arts and her community.

Born on July 25, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois, United States. Daughter of Robert Mortimer Krause and Eleanor Driese. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University in 1959 and later completed a Master of Science degree at Cleveland State University in 1986. Certified as a teacher in Michigan and as a Medical Technologist in Hematology through the American Society for Clinical Pathology, Marjorie devoted her professional life to science, education, and healthcare.

Her career began as a laboratory technician at Dartmouth College from 1960 to 1966, followed by service at the University of Vermont from 1966 to 1970. She later worked as a technologist at Case Western Reserve University and University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center before joining the Cleveland Clinic, where she served as a laboratory and medical technologist for a decade. In later years, she shared her knowledge as a computer laboratory technician at Lakeland Community College and delighted audiences as a narrator at SeaWorld Ohio.

Marjorie’s commitment to education extended beyond her career. She served as a judge for youth science fairs through the Ohio Academy of Science and was recognized as a noteworthy biochemist by Marquis Who’s Who.

A passionate supporter of the arts, Marjorie volunteered with the Cleveland Orchestra beginning in 1972 and with the Playhouse Square Foundation from 1988 through 2004. Her dedication earned multiple recognition awards from both organizations. She also volunteered with the Hunter Jumper Classic and the International Children’s Games.

Outside of her professional and volunteer endeavors, Marjorie found joy in natural history, bird watching, opera, theater, and classical music. Her intellectual curiosity, generosity of spirit, and devotion to learning and culture touched countless lives throughout her remarkable journey.

Marjorie is survived by her sister, Bette Coulson (Raymond), her nephew, Theodore Coulson (May), and sister-in-law Linda Krause. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Eleanor Krause and her brothers, Robert and Bryan Krause. Marjorie also loved her furry companions, Tuffy and Little One. They brought her comfort and companionship and are laid to rest with Marj.

She will be remembered for her lifelong pursuit of knowledge, her service to others, and her enduring appreciation for the arts and the natural world.

Marjorie was laid to rest on June 22, 2026 at Foxfield Preserve, 9877 Alabama Ave SW, Wilmot, OH 44689.
