Obituary: Susan Elizabeth Lowman

Susan Elizabeth Lowman, age 78, of Homewood, IL passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2024.  She was born September 26, 1945, in Chicago, IL.  Daughter of the late Henry and Elsa Tretinyak. Sister of Robert Tretinyak.  Mother of Shawn Halloran (Schererville, IN) and Wendy Lowman (Apache Junction, AZ).  Loving Hockey Grandma of Samantha and Hank Halloran.  Friend and sister-in-law to Patricia D’Errico. Proud fur baby mom to super dog, Zoe.  Beloved friend to the most wonderful group of neighbors on Page Avenue.

Susan graduated with an accounting degree from Valparaiso University in Indiana.  She was one of the first woman auditors for the department store Marshall Fields Inc. in Chicago, IL.  She continued her career throughout her years as a Personal Banker for several financial institutions in the southern suburbs. Most recently, the Homewood Police Department allowed her the honor to be a crossing guard for Willow School, and she became a school lunch helper for Churchill School. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family going to the Knowledge Exchange at Governors State University, attending the theatre, playing golf, being re-introduced to the game of bridge, and being a member of Faith Lutheran Church.  She was most proud of her grandchildren (Sam & Hank) and loved to watch them play hockey.  She was well loved and will be greatly missed.

Visitation is Thursday, April 4, 2024, from 9am – 11am, followed by a short service presented by Pastor Amy Wiegert, from Faith Lutheran Church of Homewood at the Tews-Ryan Funeral Home located at 18230 Dixie Highway in Homewood. Celebration of Life Luncheon will be had at the house of Patricia D’Errico, 11519 Myrrh Lane, Frankfort, IL  60423 immediately following the service.  For additional information contact tews-ryanfh.com or call 708-798-5300.
