Michael “Mike” Thomas, 72, of Schererville, Indiana, formerly of Homewood, passed away on Dec. 20, 2023. He is survived by his loving wife, Ginni; sons Matthew (Summer) Thomas and Patrick Thomas; grandchildren Finley, Campbell and Merrick; brother Tom (Claudia) Thomas; sister Diane (Tony) Pittari; and many nephews, nieces, cousins and dear friends and fellow thespians at The Drama Group in Chicago Heights. Preceeded in death by his devoted parents Raymond and Dorothy Thomas.
Mike leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and indelible memories. He was devoted to his wife Ginni for 47 years. Mike loved his sons and spoke proudly of them as young boys and grown men. When Papa T. spoke with and about his grandchildren, his huge heart was filled with pride and love.
Mike had an unparalleled presence on any stage. Whether through a witty remark, a comical tale or a spot-on impersonation, he had the unique ability to captivate and uplift those around him. His laughter was infectious, and his humor was a gift that he generously shared with the world. While his physical presence may no longer grace our gatherings, the echoes of his laughter and the warmth of his spirit will forever resonate in our hearts. Mike will be deeply missed but his legacy of love, laughter and joy will continue to inspire us all.
A memorial celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at Ridge United Methodist Church, 8607 Columbia Ave. in Munster, Indiana. There will be fellowship, storytelling and laughter following the service. Lunch will be served. The family requests donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or help a friend in need, be extra kind to a stranger.
