Paschal (Pat) Joseph Panio, MD, a resident of Flossmoor, IL, tragically passed away on September 12, 2023 surrounded by his beloved wife and four children. Pat was born and raised in Chicago Heights, IL where he attended Marian Catholic High School. Later, he pursued his medical studies at Loyola Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood, IL and built a successful career as an orthopedic hand surgeon, dedicating over 45 years to his practice in the HF community.
Known to many as ‘Dr. P’, he was widely recognized for his unwavering commitment to his family. Pat was the epitome of a devoted family man, prioritizing family vacations, spending weekends cheering on his children and grandchildren in their sporting events, and hosting enjoyable pool parties during the summer. He placed great importance on his children’s education, ensuring they had every opportunity to succeed in the future. His eight cherished grandchildren, Jimmy, Frankie, Sofia, Reese, Joey, Niko, Stella, and Freya, affectionately called him “Boppa.”
Pat is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Karen, and his children, Patrick (Bonnie), Marissa (Matt), Chris (Katie), and Emili (Rick), as well as his eight beloved grandchildren. A ceremonial mass in celebration of his life will take place at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Clarendon Hills on Tuesday, October 10 at 11AM.
