Kluger FS May 1-31 2019

A second sculpture by Chicago artist Terry Karpowicz will be installed at Flossmoor’s Ballantrae Park.

Village board members Monday approved the acquisition of “Totem,” a seven-foot sculpture made from granite and steel. Flossmoor trustees also OK’d a resolution authorizing a license agreement with the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District.

“Totem” will complement “Mount,” another Karpowicz work, at Ballantrae Park. Both pieces will be installed by the artist on existing concrete pads at the park . . .

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
