Science center internship helps teens share energy efficiency message

Do you realize you’re adding to your electric bill by leaving chargers, devices and appliances plugged in while not in use? That was one of the lessons presented by 10 high school students interning at the Homewood Science Center on July 22.

Summer events

Monday, July 4

  • Homewood 4th of July parade. Starts at 10 a.m. from St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, then follows Ridge Road to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
  • Flossmoor 4th of July parade. Starts at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High and ends downtown, where there will be fun activities.
