The Joliet Area/South Suburban Alumnae Chapter (JASSAC) of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority is presenting its “Youth Summit” on Oct. 29.
The program for 11- to 18-year-olds and their parents is from 1 to 5 p.m. at River Oaks Mall, 159th Street and Torrence Avenue in Calumet City. The event is free.
The summit will provide information on various subjects affecting families today and international concerns impacting young people, according to JASSAC Chapter President Kimberly Rowe-Barney.
Topics will include how elections are won and lost; the United Nations campaign to bring awareness about violence against women; bullying and ways to gain empowerment; and health and safety issues.
The summit is presented by JASSAC of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., in conjunction with JASSAC Charitable Foundation, Inc.
