Parker Junior High ‘Tech Ninjas’ take robot to competition

The District 153 PTA will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, to take a position on the upcoming March 15 referendum question. The meeting is at James Hart School, 183rd and Morgan in Homewood.

The school board approved a referendum asking voters to extend the current tax levy another seven years.

Voters approved a 2011 referendum that enabled the district to sell $7 million in bonds. The ballot question in March will ask voters to approve the sale of up to $9 million in bonds. The money will be used to help the . . .

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
