Millennium band teacher honored

The Village of Homewood will be a chocoholic's paradise 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Feb. 20 as it hosts the 14th annual Homewood Chocolate Fest.

This year's festival will feature baking demonstrations, children's activities, a science demonstration, vendor booths and a variety of sweets, desserts and gourmet baked goods, according to a news release from the village.

Summer events

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
