Property owners in Rich and Thornton Townships have until Jan. 8 to appeal their property tax assessments. Information on the process will be available at a property tax assessment appeal forum at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 5 at All Nations Community Church, 18620 Kedzie Ave. in Homewood.
Filing a property tax assessment appeal may lead to a lower property tax burden for many of your constituents.
The program, hosted by Commissioner Larry Rogers, Jr. of the Cook County Board of Review, is free and open to the public. Staff members will be available to assist taxpayers with their filing. Taxpayers are encouraged to bring their most recent tax bill with them.
Residents of Bloom Township can file paperwork as well. The paperwork will be held on file until the Cook County Assessor’s Office sets the date in 2016 for property tax appeals for Bloom Township.
For further information, contact Rogers’ office at 312-603-5764.
