Homewood Police Reports: Nov. 2, 2015

A Gary man stopped for speeding on 183rd Street in Homewood early Friday, Dec. 11, faces several traffic, drug and weapons charges, according to Homewood police.

Giovonte Barnes, 21, of the 2100 block of Carolina, was stopped shortly after 12:30 a.m. in the 1600 block of 183rd Street for allegedly traveling more than 60 mph in a 30 mph zone.

Police said they discovered a .45 caliber handgun in the vehicle after they noticed a firearm magazine on the passenger side. The magazine was loaded with .45 caliber ammunition, according to the report . . .
