Homewood Police Reports: Nov. 1, 2015

No charges have been filed in a fatal traffic accident Saturday that claimed the life of a former Homewood man. 

Homewood police said a pedestrian was walking south-southeast across 183rd Street near Gottschalk Avenue shortly before 1 p.m. when he was struck by an eastbound car. The identity of the driver was not released.

The pedestrian, Michael Wexler, 52, a native of Homewood who lived in Chicago, was transported to South Suburban Hospital and later transferred to Christ Hospital. He was pronounced dead at 9:03 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

The Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team (SMART) responded to the scene to assist. The Homewood Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Unit is continuing its  investigation, police said.
