Who was the first person you wrote a letter to? For many kids, it’s Santa!

That holds true for students at St. Joseph School in Homewood who paired with their seventh grade buddies to make their letters stir the heartstrings of Santa this holiday season.

“During the early part of the week, we learned the organization and shape of a letter.

We remember last year’s gifts in order to say ‘thank you,’ consider one or two gifts to ask for this year, and discuss things we wonder about Santa so we can ask him in our letters,” said first grade teacher Carol Feeley.

Seventh grade buddies offer suggestions on messages for the first drafts. The following day, the first graders write their “Santa-ready” copies and Feeley sends them off.

Is Santa a good pen pal?

“Yes, Santa always replies,” Feeley said assuredly.
