Robin Kelly

Rep. Robin Kelly, D-Ill., will co-chair a forum on the costs and consequences of gun violence in America today at 10 a.m.

The public is invited to listen to the live stream of the “No More Silence: Commonsense Solutions to Address the Gun Violence Epidemic,” forum at  www.robinkelly.house.gov/house-gun-violence-prevention-task-force-hearing.

The forum is bringing together expert panelists to discuss what actions Congress can take now to enhance community safety and keep guns out of the hands of dangerous individuals.

Kelly will be joined by Rep. Mike Thompson, D-Calif. who chairs the Congressional task force and House Democratic leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.

Guests invited to speak are Chris Kitaeff, gun show dealer and board member with Arizonans for Gun Safety; Dr. David Satcher, former U.S. Surgeon General; Daniel Webster, director of the Johns Hopkins Center for Gun Policy and Research; and Police Chief John Dixon, of Petersburg, Va.

Kelly, who represents Homewood and Flossmoor in Congress, is co-chair of the House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force. Since her election to Congress in 2013, Kelly has continued to push for measures that would reduce the number of illegal guns on the street and means to reduce deaths by gun violence.
