A jogger suffered a cut during an attempted robbery late Thursday on Highland Avenue, according to Homewood police.
The man reported he was accosted near the intersection of Highland and Olive Road about 9:28 p.m. Another man approached him from behind, put him in a headlock and pointed a pocket knife at his neck, police said.
The assailant demanded the jogger’s wallet and phone. During a brief struggle, the jogger was cut on the arm and told police he believes the assailant might have been cut on his leg.
An ambulance responded to the scene, but the victim declined medical attention, police said.
The assailant was described as a male, about 6 feet tall, wearing black clothing and a black ski mask. He fled south on Highland after the incident, according to police.
