Enrollment in District 161 schools holds steady

Registration for the spring 2016 semester at Prairie State College (PSC) is open for current students. New students can begin registering on Monday, Oct. 26.

Both credit and non-credit courses are listed in the spring class schedule, available on the PSC main campus, at 202 S. Halsted St., Chicago Heights. The schedule also is available at area public libraries and online at prairiestate.edu.

The 16-week spring semester courses begin Tuesday, Jan. 19. The 14-week courses begin Monday, Feb. 1. The 12-week courses begin Friday, Feb. 12. All of these courses — 16-week, 14-week and 12-week – end on Thursday, May 12, and offer the same course material with the same credit hours. To accommodate the shorter number of weeks, class periods are longer.

PSC also offers two eight-week sessions. The first eight-week courses start Tuesday, Jan. 19, and end Monday, March 14. Second eight-week courses start Tuesday, March 15, and end Thursday, May 12. The eight-week courses typically are fewer credit hours.

Many of the college certificate programs offer eight-week courses, allowing students to fit two courses in a semester and to make progress towards earning that certificate.

Enrollment Services is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, and 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

For more information on registering, visit prairiestate.edu or call 708-709-3500.
