Homewood area residents will have a chance to get a close-up look at how firefighters work Saturday, Oct. 10, during the annual Homewood Fire Department open house.
The event will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the fire department, 17950 Dixie Highway, and will allow the community to experience the workings of the fire department, according to the village e-newswire.
Staff will give demonstrations and give visitors the opportunity to go through an obstacle course. Refreshments will be served.
An automobile extrication demonstration will take place at 12:15 p.m. and a live burn sprinkler demonstration will occur at 1:15 p.m.
Between those times, guests will be able to see fire department equipment up close, learn about fire safety and talk to local firefighters.
