Popular scarecrow contest returns to Homewood Fall Fest

‘James & the Giant Peach’ presented at H-F High A beloved children’s story, “James & the Giant Peach,” will be presented as a children’s musical at Homewood-Flossmoor High School Sept. 25 and 26.

The presentation, based on the book by Roald Dahl, tells the story of James who discovers a tree with a magic potion that results in a tremendous peach. The magic takes him inside the peach where he’s meeting human-sized insects with oversized personalities. The peach falls from the tree and rolls into the ocean forcing the group to face hunger, sharks and disagreements. James’ quick wit and creative thinking help the residents live and work together as the dangerous voyage takes a whole new twist as they land on the Empire State Building.

Performances will be at 9 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 24; 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 25; and 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26.

This production for all ages is directed by teacher J.R. Rose and student assistant directors Sarah Esparza, John Geary, Jaira Stanley and Maggie Sullivan.

Cast members are Emma Anderson, Zoe Branch, Najee Chatman, Joey Cipriano, Maggie Colton, Elaina Dague, Shelby Leigh Dorsey, Sydney Dubose, Stella Hoyt, Rosie Joyce, Will Knox, Jacob Rodriguez, Ethan Runburg, Mandy Sigale and Duncan Wood.
