Flossmoor takes first step toward allowing video gambling

August was a busy month! I started by going on an Agriculture tour of Kankakee County to talk with farmers and hear their unique needs and concerns. I also saw the Second District’s natural beauty with a tour of the Pembroke Savanna Nature Preserve and a walking tour along the Kankakee River to explore environmental issues.

Making sure families in the Second District have access to quality healthcare is a priority. That’s why I celebrated National Health Center Week to raise awareness of community health centers and the role that they play in promoting good health.

August also meant kicking off the Back to School season. I visited a number of back to school events, including a health fair and a field trip with student athletes to the Chicago Bears Training Camp in Bourbonnais.  This school year, I look forward to continuing my successful education programs with more book and computer donations and the second year of the Robin’s Readers reading challenge.

The next few months are shaping up to be very busy with important votes on foreign  relations and passing a  much-needed federal budget. I encourage you to visit my website and stay connected through Facebook and Twitter to get the most up-to-date information about my activities this fall.
