Walmart seeks property tax relief for redevelopment of former K-Mart store in Homewood

Irons Oaks Foundation is presenting its first Green Parenting Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at Irons Oaks Environmental Learning Center, 2000 Western Ave., in Olympia Fields.

Whether you count yourself as a "green family" or you're just interested in learning more about the possibilities, this Green Parenting Fair will have something for you, organizers said. 

The focus will be on natural, environmentally friendly options for parents and their children.

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
