Homewood and Flossmoor residents working on Jones Center fundraiser

Unshaven Comics, a project of three local graphic artists, is running a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter to produce its first graphic novel.

The book by Homewood-Flossmoor High School graduates Marc Alan Fishman, Matt Wright and Kyle Gnepper  will be titled “The Samurnauts: Curse of the Dreadnuts.” The 192-page book will include issues No. 1 through No. 4 of the comic mini-series plus 50 pages of new material.

The comic series is a  “team-action adventure (that) features giant robots, zombie-cyborg pirates, psychic nightmares, team combat, special moves, and of course, the immortal Kung-Fu monkey master leading the charge against an alien-tech-enhanced zombie pirate captain in a fight 1000 years in the making” according to the campaign introduction.

The goal for the campaign is $6,500. As of Aug. 22, the campaign had attracted 113 pledges totalling $5,459.

Editor’s note: Marc Alan Fishman has contributed work for the Chronicle, including the design of the publication’s logo.
