2007 website front page. On the right is the village’s
new website design, unveiled Thursday.

Flossmoor’s new and improved village website goes live after 4 p.m. today.

The new site – located at www.flossmoor.org – is designed to improve communication, giving residents and business owners easier ways to find information and interact with community officials, said Kimberly Richardson, assistant to the village manager. She gave a preview of the new site at Monday’s village board meeting.

“Overall, it is more attractive, accessible and interactive,” Richardson said.

Flossmoor’s previous website has been in place since 2007. Richardson said the new site will allow residents to get information quickly and will look the same on mobile devices as it does on computers. Information will be up to date, she said, and there will be less of a need to “click through” the site to find what you are seeking.

The new site has a “form center” where residents can apply online for permits and licenses, as well as make water and sewer bill payments.

New headings and tabs were also designed to simplify the search process for anyone visiting the site, Richardson said.

Residents can sign up for alerts, report concerns and download documents like police department house-watch applications. When posted, alerts will flash, she said.

The new site was designed with an eye on ever-increasing forms of social media, Richardson said. Information from the site can be easily shared on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and other social media platforms, she said.
