Honk! Jr., the story of the Ugly Duckling set to music, is this year’s presentation at the Homewood-Flossmoor High School Summer Theatre on July 16 and 17.

H-F drama teacher Jill Bonavia has been working with students ranging in age from second grade through seniors in high school for this musical version of the classic Ugly Duckling tale. The story line has Ugly, who looks quite a bit different from his darling duckling brothers and sisters, on an adventure of self-discovery, all the while unknowingly outwitting a very hungry cat. Along the way, Ugly meets a whole flock of unique characters and finds out being different is not a bad thing to be.

Performances of this all-ages production are scheduled for 7 p.m. on July 16, and 2 and 7 p.m. on July 17, at H-F High School. Tickets are $7 for adults and  $5 for students, children and seniors and can be purchased beforehand at the H-F Campus Store or at the door.

Cast members are Khari Anderson, Kenneth Bivens, Barbara Burns, Elaina Dague, Megan Doran, Vivian Ebon, Mary Holland, Jack Johnson, Ava Jones, Joan Karstrom, William Knox, Elizabeth Lampley, Jeremiah Lee, Elanna Lloyd, Aubrey Mandichak, Flannery Marak, Cameron Massatt, Symone Moore, Cami McGill-Smith, Grace McKillip, Hannah Monteilh, Lea Ryndak, Audrey Simmons, Maggie Sterning, Charlotte Symowicz, Dillon Taylor, Emily Thompson, Brianna Valentine, Hailey Walker and Myles Walker.
