State ratings improve at District 161; Parker no longer ‘underperforming’
Flossmoor School District 161 saw a positive trend on its Illinois State Board of Education Report Card ratings this year, with two of its elementary schools performing in the top 10 percent of schools statewide, and Parker Junior High shedding its “underperforming” designation.

A record-setting rain Sept. 27 brought waves of destruction through Flossmoor, overwhelming the village’s sewage and stormwater system, flooding residents’ basements and stranding vehicles on waterlogged streets. The cluster of small businesses in the village’s downtown was no exception.
Kamleiter selected for Flossmoor police chief appointment
Acting Flossmoor Police Chief Tod Kamleiter has been selected to move up the ranks to serve as the village’s next permanent police chief. Kamleiter was Flossmoor’s deputy police chief for six years until May, when he was appointed acting police chief following former chief Mike Pulec’s retirement.

Flossmoor adopts 3-cent per gallon gas tax

District 161 hires assistant principal for Western Avenue Elementary
The Flossmoor School Board on Monday approved the hiring of an assistant principal for Western Avenue Elementary. Jacqueline Renko, who is currently an English language learners teacher and bilingual coordinator for District 161, will be stepping into the administrative role.
Flossmoor PD adopts ‘10 Shared Principles’ focused on trust between police, people of color
The Flossmoor Police Department has adopted a list of values designed to build trust between law enforcement and communities of color called the 10 Shared Principles of Policing. The principles were created by the NAACP Illinois State Conference and the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police.
