Registration is open for a South Suburban heritage tour of sites along the Underground Railroad on Saturday, June 6.
Representatives from the Midwest Underground Railroad Network will lead the tour offering fascinating stories of the escaped slaves who traveled through the area seeking freedom prior to the Civil War.

Participants will take a bus to the sites. Some walking is required.
The tour is from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and will begin at Sandridge Nature Center, 15891 Paxton Ave. in South Holland. The event is free, but there is limited seating, so reservations are necessary and can be made here.
This program is sponsored by the Forest Preserves of Cook County.
