The Homewood Village Board approved an incentive at the Feb. 10 meeting to rebate the village’s 2% Places for Eating Tax for one year for 69 Prime restaurant located at 2034 Ridge Road.
According to Homewood Director of Economic and Community Development Angela Mesaros, the incentive will provide support to the business with the cost of its interior renovations. The restaurant’s owner, Paul Spass, who also operates The Primal Cut in Tinley Park, already has invested more than $100,000 to remodel the former La Voute Bistro space. Spass converted it into a steakhouse featuring traditional surf-and-turf and Italian menu options.
The Places for Eating Tax is applied to food and beverages purchased for immediate consumption at restaurants, cafes and similar establishments, with revenue directed to supporting village services, Mesaros said.
Staff determined the project met eligibility requirements based on qualified construction expenses and the restaurant’s potential to support downtown activity. The rebate will be performance-based, and is expected to total about $33,000. The agreement sets a maximum cap of $40,000. The reimbursement will date back to the restaurant’s opening and end after the first year of operation, Mesaros said.
69 Prime has been in operation since January 2025. The restaurant is open from 4 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 4 to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
