Flossmoor police posted an email alert about 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, advising the community that officers were searching for the driver of a vehicle who fled the scene of a traffic stop. Shortly after 7 p.m. police announced that a person had been detained in the case.

Police said the vehicle was pulled over near Carroll Parkway and Evans Road about 4:50 p.m. After the driver fled heading east into the Flossmoor Park neighborhood, police found a handgun in the vehicle.

Officers searched the area and advised residents to expect increased police presence.
