U.S. Rep. Robin Kelly announced she will host “Reclaiming Our Wellness,” a symposium on Black women and girls from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 6 at Prairie State College, 202 S. Halsted St., Chicago Heights.
The event will focus on addressing eight domains of wellness for women: mental, environmental, financial, intellectual, occupational, physical, social and spiritual.
The symposium will include the following speakers, among others:
- Dr. Mai Heath on infant and maternal mortality.
- Dr. Nichelle Bush on research findings about how COVID impacted pregnancy and delivery.
- Dr. Hareder McDowell, founder and executive director of P.R.E.T.T.Y Inc., on sexuality and body positivity.
- LaSaia Wade, CEO of Brave Space Alliance on LGBTQ+ milestones and setbacks.
