Beyond the Book launches publishing imprint for independent writers

Seven months after opening in downtown Homewood, Beyond the Book bookstore launched its own publishing company in May, according to owner Tenia Davis.

Beyond the Book Press is “a new publishing imprint dedicated to helping aspiring and established authors bring their stories, expertise and ideas to life,” Davis said.

Davis said there will be a reception July 17 from noon to 2 p.m. at the store, 18063 Dixie Highway, with attendance from village officials and local business owners to celebrate the launch.

Beyond the Book Press was created to address a growing need for accessible, high-quality publishing support while amplifying diverse voices and perspectives. Davis said the press would offer a wide range of services, including author coaching, publishing guidance, marketing support, manuscript evaluation, illustration and design, editing, proofreading, book formatting and layout, publishing and distribution.

“Our goal is to empower writers and thought leaders to share their work with confidence and purpose,” she said. “As a business owner and lifelong advocate for literacy, education, and entrepreneurship, I believe storytelling remains one of the most powerful tools for inspiring change, preserving culture, and strengthening communities. Beyond the Book Press represents our commitment to creating opportunities for authors while contributing to the cultural and economic vitality of our region.”

Authors will be offered a one-hour podcast episode for marketing that can be filmed in the podcast office located in the rear of the bookstore.

“I’m really excited about not just publishing adults and established authors, but also what I want to focus on is cultivating the next generation of writers,” Davis said.

Davis said she created an advisory group of several people with various business backgrounds within the book and publishing realm to bring different work ethics to help with the process.

“I think it’s important to focus on good literature, good writing and storytelling,” Davis said. “I think there’s so much talent out there and I want to give space to those types of talent.”
