Homewood Farmers Market kicks off May 30 with more vendors

One of Homewood’s most cherished traditions, the Outdoor Farmers Market, is returning Saturday, May 30, with more flavor, more variety and more space to explore.

The market will be held every Saturday through Oct. 10 (except July 4) from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Martin Square in downtown Homewood.

Now in its more than 40-year history, the farmers market continues to serve as a cornerstone of the community, bringing residents and visitors together each week to shop, connect and enjoy local food, beverage and unique finds, according to village officials.

This season, the village plans to expand the market on select Saturdays to include more than 50 vendors and extend onto Chestnut Road, offering shoppers even more opportunities to explore a wide range of goods and experiences.

Events Manager Marla Youngblood said shoppers can expect a diverse mix of farm-fresh produce, locally sourced meats, artisan breads, cheeses, honey, handcrafted goods and specialty items, including vegan foods and skincare products. She said the market will also feature ready-to-eat foods, refreshing beverages and activities for all ages, including games and giveaways.

In addition, the Homewood Historical Society will provide free local recipes, giving attendees a chance to bring a taste of history home.

Youngblood said the market will have an upbeat, pet-friendly atmosphere with freshly brewed coffee for a welcoming and vibrant environment each week.

“The Homewood Farmers Market has been a beloved tradition for generations, and we’re excited to build on that legacy with an expanded footprint and even more to offer our residents and visitors,” Youngblood said. “From longtime favorites to new vendors and experiences, there’s something for everyone to enjoy each Saturday.”

Residents and visitors are encouraged to follow the new Homewood Farmers Market Facebook page for updates, vendor highlights and weekly announcements.
