The District 153 school board on April 13 approved tenure for 19 teachers and certified staff using the Illinois State Board of Education guidance.
Tenure is awarded to those who have received high ratings in their classroom work. The state recently changed the tenure rules reducing the time from four years to three years for tenure. Some teachers receive accelerated tenure after two years in the classroom.
Newly tenured teachers are:
- Melanie Bagnola-Boehl, social worker at Churchill School.
- Madeline Butzbach, speech pathologist at Willow School.
- Caroline DeLuia, kindergarten teacher at Willow School.
- Xanthia Gaines, eighth grader teacher at James Hart School.
- Elza Gashi, seventh grade teacher at James Hart School.
- Lauren Graham, first grade teacher at Willow School.
- Margaret Jones, kindergarten teacher at Willow School.
- Tina Kenebrew, sixth grade teacher at James Hart School.
- LaDarrah Krogh, sixth grade teacher at James Hart School.
- Emily Mikolajewski, seventh grade teacher at James Hart School.
- April Mizerk, fourth grade teacher at Churchill School.
- Cameron Morgan, fourth grade teacher at Churchill School.
- Adrienne Ross, reading specialist at James Hart School.
- Shawn Sabotka, health teacher at James Hart School.
- Nicole Sawilchik, music and choir teacher at Churchill School.
- Meggan Slager, physical education teacher at Willow School.
- Natalie Stasiuk-Frenci, third grade teacher at Churchill School.
- Henry Stuttley, sixth grader teacher at James Hart School.
