Local scouts’ annual pancake breakfast is Saturday

Anyone who wants to fill up on pancakes and support a good cause can head to Abundant Grace Church, 18200 Dixie Highway, from 6 a.m to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, for the annual fundraiser organized by Boy Scout Troop 342 and Cub Scout Pack 304.

Jacob Davis, a scout in Troop 342, provided the Homewood Board of Trustees with details about the event during public comment at the board meeting Tuesday, April 14.

He described the benefits of scouting, including learning outdoor survival skills, building confidence, valuing community service and developing academic ability.

“Scouting is much more than a wilderness explorer club,” Jacob said.

The annual pancake breakfast is a longstanding tradition in Homewood and it gives the community a chance to support local scouts.

“In order to support our operation, scouting needs funds to operate,” Jacob said.

Tickets are $5 in advance, $7 at the door.
