Prairie Jubilee. To kick off the spring season, volunteers at Gensburg Markham Prairie invite the public to join a volunteer-led effort to restore this historic prairie site from 9 a.m. to noon. The project will involve cutting back woody brush with hand-tools. No experience is necessary, and all supplies and tools will be provided. There will be snacks and opportunity to meet new people. Wear outdoorsy clothing and shoes that you don’t mind getting a bit dirty. Parking at 15900 California Ave. in Markham.
Weekend Documentary Film: Jane’s Journey. Homewood Public Library, 17917 Dixie Highway, will host a showing of “Jane’s Journey” from 10 a.m. to noon in the meeting room.
Advanced Computer Class for Adults: PowerPoint Fundamentals. Adults can learn hands-on practice with creating, formatting and running a PowerPoint slide show. The class will meet from 10 a.m. to noon in Helen Wilson Meeting Room at Flossmoor Public Library, 1000 Sterling Ave. The library provides students with laptops for this class. Please do not bring your own device. Individualized instruction may not be possible. This class is facilitated by Dr. Kristine Condon, a Microsoft Certified Educator. Big Screen Rewatch: Jurassic World. Homewood Public Library, 17917 Dixie Highway, will host a showing of “Jurassic World” from 2 to 4 p.m. in the meeting room.
DIY Fairy Garden. Tweens and teens are invited to Flossmoor Public Library, 1000 Sterling Ave., from 3 to 4 p.m. to learn how to create their own fairy garden experience. When the magic is complete, each participant carries home a pocket-sized fairy realm. Register here.
Spring ICE Breaker. The Rock Shop will host its second night of resistance at 7 p.m. in the FCC Community House, 847 Hutchison Road, Flossmoor. Doors open at 6 p.m. Musicians, poets, jewelers, artists and artisans showcase the art of resistance. Suggested $5 donation will benefit the South Suburban Housing Center. This is a BYO event.
