Tips on birding offered at Green Drinks meeting March 25

With Spring in the air, migratory birds are returning to the area. Two birding experts will share their insights at the Birding 101 program hosted by Chicago Southland Green Drinks from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, at Flossmoor Station.

Nick Paarlberg from Sand Ridge Nature Center will cover major bird groups — from passerines and woodpeckers to ducks and owls — and offer tips for birding essentials, habitat types and sound identification.

Joining Paarlberg will be Sheetal Khedkar Roa, chief health and engagement officer at Nordson Green Earth. She will introduce the Markham Public Library Birdwatching Community Science Project. Roa will highlight free tools, such as eBird and Merlin, that anyone can use to identify birds and contribute to global datasets.

Attendance is limited. RSVP to Dave Ward at [email protected].
