Homewood-Flossmoor High School District 233, Flossmoor School District 161 and Homewood District 153 school boards approved school calendars for next school year.
The schools try to coordinate calendars to help families with children in various districts.
H-F and Homewood District 153 welcome students on Aug. 19 with the final day of instruction on June 2, 2027. Flossmoor District 161 will open on Aug. 20 and the final day of instruction will be June 4, 2027.
The districts have coordinated for Thanksgiving break Nov. 25, 26 and 27; winter break starting Monday, Dec. 21, through Friday, Jan. 1, 2027; and spring break from Friday, March 26, 2027, through Friday, April 2, 2027.
The districts mark Labor Day Sept. 7, Yom Kippur on Sept. 21, with Friday, Oct. 9 for a long weekend marking Indigenous Peoples Day on Oct. 12. In 2027, schools mark Martin Luther King Day on Jan. 18, Presidents Day on Feb. 15 and Memorial Day on May 31.
On Election Day, Nov. 3, District 153 closes because its buildings are used as polling places. Students also are in school for half-day on Nov. 11.
District 153 traditionally celebrates the Veterans Day holiday with ceremonies honoring veterans. Students will have a half-day of school. Veterans Day is a day off for District 161. H-F students will be in school.
Flossmoor District 161 students will not be in attendance Friday, Feb. 12, giving families a long weekend marking Presidents Day on Feb. 15. The district also takes off on March 1 for Casimir Pulaski Day, a State of Illinois holiday.
