District 233 board sets repair priorities

Work on the tennis courts at Homewood-Flossmoor High School has been included in the 2025-26 budget.

Members of the Finance Committee for the District 233 school board reviewed future expenses at its Oct. 7 meeting learning which projects were classified as top, high, medium and low priorities. 

Included in the top priority category was the $195,000 for new flooring at the high school. This work was completed during the summer. The board has set aside $500,000 for refinishing the north and south tennis courts. It also allocated $62,000 to cover the purchase of new vehicles used to transport students. 

The board also allocated $1.3 million for work in the Science Wing.

The high priority list includes maintenance recoating of the stadium track, lighting and sound improvements in the Mall Auditorium, and roof replacement over the library and cafeteria.
