H-F Invites Veterans. The Homewood-Flossmoor Vikings football team invites all active duty military members and veterans to its Salute to Service football game Aug. 29. Youth Karate. Thursdays from 4:45 to 5:30 p.m. for kids aged 4 to 6 and or 5:45 to 6:30 p.m. for kids aged 7 and up through Oct. 9 at Irwin Center, 18120 Highland Ave. Students will get a good workout while developing coordination, confidence, self-discipline and self- defense. This program can advance students through the belt rank certification process. Gis (karate uniforms) are not required but are available from the instructor for a $30 fee.
