- Consider awarding a bid for relocation of a downtown sanitary sewer that currently runs under the Civic Center building and an engineering contract for project supervision.
- Consider an intergovernmental agreement with the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District to acquire the property at 1648 Western Ave. for the purpose of demolishing the house on the flood-prone property.

Flossmoor Downtown Business Support. Flossmoor announced on Friday, Aug. 1, a new promotion intended to help our downtown businesses throughout the remainder of the Downtown Streetscape Project. Support Our Shops will continue through the rest of the summer. Customers and area residents are invited to pick up a 2025 Flossmoor Retail Card at downtown businesses, then collect a sticker for each purchase made at the businesses. Completed cards can be redeemed by Oct. 1 at Flossmoor village hall, 2800 Flossmoor Road, for Flossmoor swag. Village hall is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Flossmoor Streetscape Project Update. Last week, crews finished storm sewer work and sidewalk removal on the west sides of Park Drive and Sterling Avenue, as well as on both sides of Central Drive and the north side of Flossmoor Road, according to an update from village officials. The terrain in the sidewalk and pavement areas is very uneven, so everyone should use care when walking and driving in the downtown area. During the coming week, new curbs, planters and sidewalks will begin to be built. For more information about the streetscape project, click here.

Stomping Grounds Day Camp Bonus Week. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the H-F Racquet & Fitness Club, 2930 W. 183rd St. This camp will include a field trip to Tinley Bowl. The camp is designed for kids in kindergarten through fifth grade. It is a classic summer camp experience with activities, games, projects and fun. Teen Leadership Council Reunion. Homewood Public Library staff are calling all past and current Teen Leadership Council members to gather in the Fort, 17917 Dixie Highway, from 7 to 8 p.m. for a reunion. TLC was started in 2017, and current members would like to hear from past members about their experiences in TLC.

National Night Out and Touch a Truck in Flossmoor. The village’s police, fire and public works departments will host the annual community gathering to give residents and public safety staff a chance to interact in a fun, informal setting. Flossmoor will host its event from 5 to 8 p.m. in the village hall parking lot, 2800 Flossmoor Road, and adjacent Infant Jesus of Prague School parking lot.
National Night Out in Homewood. Homewood will host the annual festival providing the community an opportunity to socialize with police officers and other public safety personnel from 5 to 8 p.m. in Irwin Park, 1800 block of Ridge Road. Special guests this year will be the Jesse White Tumblers.
Comics and Cookies. Comic readers can discuss what they’ve been reading lately from 6 to 6:45 p.m. in the Rauch Reading Room at Homewood Public Library, 17917 Dixie Highway. The library will provide the treats, you provide the chat. Register here.

Movie Night. Kids and teens are invited to watch movies in the Helen Wilson Meeting Room at Flossmoor Public Library, 1000 Sterling Ave., from 6 to 8 p.m. The library will provide popcorn and drinks but you can bring your own favorite movie snack, too.

Gobble Doggs Grand Opening. The new turkey hot dog restaurant at 2025 Ridge Road in Homewood will hold its grand opening from noon to 2 p.m. Free samples, music, a scholarship award ceremony and mural unveiling.
Beyond Borders Cafe Grand Opening. The new cafe at 1036 Sterling Ave. in Flossmoor will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10 a.m.

Homewood Outdoor Farmers Market. The market will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Martin Square on Martin Avenue between Chestnut and Ridge roads in downtown Homewood. Vendors will offer fresh produce, baked goods, handcrafted jewelry, skincare and more. Food trucks will be on hand and ready-to-eat meals will be available.
STEM Saturday. Science play and learning from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Homewood Science Center, 18022 Dixie Highway.
Barb & Dan’s Road Ride. Riders of all experience levels can join the group which leaves at 8 a.m. from GoodSpeed Cycles, 2125 183rd St. in Homewood. There is a no-drop group that rides about 20 miles and stronger riders sometimes go farther. Helmets required, daytime lights strongly recommended.
Off-leash Ride. A leisurely just-riding-around nine-mile ride every Saturday. Route includes Butterfield Creek bike path, Rovers Run and Izaak Walton Preserve. Starts at GoodSpeed Cycles, 2125 183rd St., at 8:30 a.m. sharp, ends back at the shop 9:45ish for donuts.
Sunday, Aug. 10
HoFlo 100. GoodSpeed Cycles, 2125 183rd St. will host the second annual 100 kilometer community bike ride. That’s 62 miles of just riding around Homewood and Flossmoor. The ride is unsupported, but the shop will have hotdogs, drinks and ice cream available between laps. All proceeds of the $10 registration donation will go to James Hart School’s Outride bicycle program. Half the proceeds of T-shirt sales also will go to the Outride program. Register here.
Haas Mural Tour. The Flossmoor Veterans Wall of Honor will host a tour of 15 Richard Haas murals in Homewood from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Meet at Martin Square on the corner of Martin Avenue and Ridge Road. Kids must be accompanied by an adult. Liability waiver signature (non-transferable) will be collected before the tour begins. No public restrooms will be available. Wear comfortable shoes.

Trail Mix: Hackensaw Boys. Trail Mix Productions will present its next Roots Music Series concert, Hackensaw Boys with opener Brice Clark, at Izaak Walton Preserve, 1100 Ridge Road in Homewood. Tickets are available here.
Saturday, Aug. 23
Back to School Party. Homewood School District 153 and the Village of Homewood will host a back to school event from 3 to 6 p.m. at village hall, 2020 Chestnut Road. There will be big trucks, a DJ spinning kid friendly music, interactive games for all-ages, a rock climbing wall, bubbles, balloons, face painting, community resources and more. Food trucks will be available.
